About Ann McQueen, Ph.D.

Ann is proud to work for the Oregon Department of Human Services as the manager of the
Safety, Oversight and Quality Unit within the Aging and People with Disabilities program.
Prior to her current job, she worked as a policy analyst, as a college instructor, and in
long term care communities. She is especially interested in the experiences of people living
with dementia and helping to create a system of care that affords them the respect, dignity,
and companionship that all human beings deserve.

Ann earned her BFA in musical theater at Emerson College
in Boston, an MS in Communication at Portland State University, and a PhD in Urban Studies –
Gerontology at Portland State University. She has presented and various conferences, both
locally and nationally, including the Pioneer Network Conference, the National
Alzheimer’s Association Caregiving Conference, the Gerontological Society of America Annual
Meeting, and Oregon’s McGinty Conference.

Ann has a delightfully mischievous young daughter,
a wonderful family, and a lazy dachshund. She is grateful to have a job that allows her
to advocate on behalf of older adults and people with disabilities in a state that
values choice, independence, dignity and safety for all older people and people with disabilities.
